In the Woodland room, we start to get your child “school ready@ by following our ethos and programme (Please read the parent handbook). We follow 'phase one' of the letters and sounds programme which is the national programme to teach early stages of reading and writing. It also means we will be encouraging independence, concentration skills, speaking and listening to each other and an adult, following an instruction and asking for help. An important attribute at this stage is the ability to “have a go!” and to not give up after the first try. We will also help your child to realise that it is OK to make mistakes, we all do, even adults, but that’s how we learn!
